Pick it up!
I am always proud of our group for their ongoing efforts to keep Big River Beach clean, but never more so than today. After the stunningly beautiful 4th of July, the beach was strewn with what turned out to be 38 bags - big bags, of garbage and recyclables. Mostly beer bottles. Marilyn, from the 7:am class went and purchased large garbage bags and came back to clean up, Jo had several friends, Clarice, Sharon and Bob, from out of town who came down for a nice walk along the beach while she worked out, they jumped right in and picked up trash along the way. Everyone from the classes hauled bags back to the van, picking up as they went. Leaving ones trash is inexcusable and we don't have to pick up after those irresponsible slobs, but I know I can't walk away from it and we all cherish our environment and appreciate the beauty of it every time we are on the beach. I can say with certainty that there wasn't a scrap left on the beach or parking lot and the bottles have been sorted and disposed of properly as well as the paper goods. Thank you all so much for all you do to keep it lovely and clean.
